7.3. The meaning of injury 

 

 

 

Is it a good defence to argue that the injury to Eric was not an injury within the meaning of the Injuries in Sports Act? Read the Act and then choose the best answer from those below.

(a) For the purposes of s 4, the word 'injury' must be given its ordinary and natural meaning, that is, any 'hurt or wound' regardless of how serious it is or whether medical attention was provided.

 

(b) For the purposes of s 4, the word 'injury' does not have its ordinary meaning, but must be interpreted to mean 'physical harm for which medical attention or treatment is provided'.
