First Principles of Business Law

Finding law online
3. Finding Australian legislation by name

3.4. Finding other Acts

Suppose you wanted to find some other Act, for example, the Food Act 1984 (Vic).  You can find it by following the process already described.

Because this is a Victorian Act rather then a Commonwealth Act, you should select the Victorian databases of cases and legislation, then Victorian Current Acts, and F (for Food Act).

If you have an internet connection, you can go to AustLII and try finding this Act. For more practice, see if you can find the following Acts:

  • Sale of Goods Act 1923 (NSW)
  • Fair Trading Act 1989 (Qld)
  • Commercial Arbitration Act 2011 (Tas)

Click here to connect to AustLII.

You can try the same approach using the Jade databases.
