The Australian Consumer Law (ACL) effectively protects consumers who enter into contracts for goods or services. It does so by providing statutory guarantees that regulate various aspects of the contract, for example, the quality of the goods and services supplied.
Importantly, these guarantees cannot be excluded by agreement between the contracting parties.
In this section we will find out:
- What particular guarantees are provided by the ACL when goods and services are supplied to consumers?
- What remedies are provided for the enforcement of the guarantees
- What happens if the supplier attempts to exclude liability under the guarantees?
