5. Finding documents using ‘search terms’

5.5. A need for better search techniques

 

 

 

Using a single word or short phrase as a search term works best if the document you are looking for contains unique or unusual words and phrases that are unlikely to be found in other documents. But where the only key words you can think of are fairly common words, and if the database is large, using simple search terms like those illustrated in this section won't produce good or reliable results. More refined techniques become necessary.  These are explained in the next sections of this module.
