4.2. Some important divisions

 

 

 

Divisions (also referred to as categories or areas) of law are a useful way of grouping together rules that govern the same type of conduct, situation or concept. You should be able to explain each of the divisions of law shown on the table below. 

Click on each of the highlighted links to learn what type of situation, conduct or concept each division refers to.   Some of the divisions overlap, so some laws can be classified in more than one category. Also, a single event or dispute may give rise to legal questions that involve rules from more than division.
