3. Business names

Question 2. If a person adds something to their own name, to create a more descriptive business name, must that business name be registered?

 

 

 

Read the statements below and select the best one.

(a) Yes. If anything at all is added to the name of the owner of the business, the name will need to be formally registered.

(b) No. As long as the business name includes the name of the owner, then it is sufficiently clear who is operating the business and the name does not need to be registered. It is the same as simply using the owner's name alone.
