Finding law online

7. Using an advanced search interface

7.4. The AustLII citator

There is another useful search tool in AustLII that you should know about.  Suppose you know of a case that was decided some time ago.  You are interested to know whether that case has been considered more recently by other courts.  LawCite is an AustLII tool that you can use to find out how a particular case has been dealt with and commented upon by courts deciding later cases. It can also be used to find citations of cases in journal articles.

LawCite is easy to use, providing a simple form with fields in which to type the relevant search information. Clicking on the search key produces a list of the cases and articles in which the case in question has been considered.
