Various remedies are available for a contravention of s 18 (injunctions; damages; compensation orders; non-punitive orders; and other orders, such as declaring a transaction void).

A contravention of s 18 is not made an offence and does not incur civil pecuniary penalties.
The prohibition against misleading or deceptive conduct is an important one, because it applies to a very wide range of circumstances. Make sure you are familiar with all the elements of s 18 of the ACL so that you can work out when there has been a contravention.
