Business organisations in Australia

7. Companies

Question 4. Can a company be used to run a small business by a single person on their own?

Read the statements below and select the best one.

(a) A company requires the involvement of at least two persons as 'members'. A single person cannot be a 'member' of an organisation that involves no-one else.

(b) In modern Australian law, a company can be used to run a small, one-person business. It does not matter that the company has only one 'member'.
