It is important to know what particular circumstances must be proved to exist before a transaction is rendered either void or voidable. The recognised vitiating circumstances include:

This module will help you to to distinguish between these different circumstances, and to determine what exact effect they may have on a transaction. After completing this module, you should think back to the process of making a contract, and reflect on how these concepts might affect the behaviour of negotiating parties.

The examples in this module are a little more complex than in some of the earlier contract modules, so read them carefully, and try to understand what makes each example different.
