Quiz: Making a contract

Question 6

A publishes a notice in a local newspaper, offering to pay a reward of $1000 to anyone who finds and returns his lost wallet.  The advertisement says that the $1000 has been deposited with A’s lawyer.  The next day B, who has not seen the advertisement, finds the wallet and returns it to A.   B finds out about the advertised offer a week later.  In the light of these facts, which one of the following statements is correct?

(a)  B is entitled to the reward because performing an act that has been specified by a person making an offer will be valid as acceptance whenever the person who has performed the act actually learns of the offer.

(b)  B is entitled to the reward because performing an act that has been specified by a person making an offer will be valid as acceptance if the person performing the act learns of the offer within a reasonable time of performing the act, and in this case B has learned of the offer within a reasonable time.

(c)   B is not entitled to the reward because performing an act that has been specified by a person making an offer will be valid as acceptance only if the person performing the act was aware of the offer when the act was performed.
