(a) This may not be a bad way to start your search for relevant cases, provided you are using an up-to-date edition of the textbook.

The advantage of textbooks is that the subject matter is conveniently arranged, so you can normally find what you are looking for by using the index.

The disadvantage of textbooks is that authors cannot include everything, so you may miss something important. Also, textbooks normally contain only summaries of cases, which are less reliable than fuller versions of law reports.

You may find it helpful to search for cases online.  For further information on how to search for cases in electronic databases, see the module 'Finding law online'.
