It is correct to say that In this Act, some of the words used have special meanings rather than their ordinary, literal meaning because of the provisions in section 3 of the Act.

It is incorrect to say that the short title of this Act is the same as the long title. The short title is the Marine Parks Act 2004.  The long title includes the phrase ‘ An Act to provide for marine parks and the conservation of the environment, and for other purposes.’ 

It is wrong to say that the ‘assent’ referred to in this Act would have been given by the Governor-General of Australia, on behalf of the Queen.  Assent to this Act would be given by the Governor of Queensland, on behalf of the Queen.
