Causation

In the tort of Negligence, 'causation' refers to the requirement that harm suffered by a plaintiff, for which the plaintiff seeks compensation from the wrongdoer, must not only have been the result of the wrongdoer's breach of their duty of care, but that the harm suffered was not too remote.

Harm that would not reasonably have been contemplated as resulting from the breach of the duty of care will be considered too remote.
