(b) That's right. Special cases attract additional rules. In cases causing purely economic loss (that is, where the defendant's conduct has not caused any physical harm) it must be shown that plaintiff and defendant were in a relationship which made the plaintiff vulnerable, dependent or powerless, while the defendant was in a position of control or power.
