Quiz: Making a contract

Question 18

A takes his 18 year-old daughter B to a car yard to buy her a car as a present.  A and B examine the cars on sale and B chooses the one she likes.  A signs a contract with C, the salesman, agreeing to purchase the car for $7000.   It is agreed that B will collect the car the next day.  When she goes to collect the car, B finds that C has resold it to D.  B wants to enforce the contract.  In the light of these facts, which one of the following statements is correct?

(a)  Because the car was bought for B and she was the person designated to collect it, she became a party to the contract and can enforce it against C.

(b)  Because B is 18 years old, she is too young to become a party to a contract and she therefore has no right to enforce it.

(c)   Because B herself gave no consideration to C when the contract was made, she did not become a party to the contract and she therefore has no right to enforce it.
