F builds a table using driftwood he finds on a beach.

This situation describes one of the ways in which a property right may be acquired. 

The important thing to notice here is that F has made a new thing (a table) from the driftwood he found on the beach. In this situation, the law recognises F (the maker) as the owner of the new thing that has been made.

This is a case of what is called 'original' acquisition. Original acquisition of a thing occurs when a person is the first to acquire a property right in that thing. One example is the right of ownership acquired by the maker of a new thing. No-one has owned this particular table before.
