1 (b) That's wrong. It is clear that A's conduct is negligent and that it caused the situation in which B's house was left empty and vulnerable to thieves. There is an obvious connection between what A did and the harm that B has suffered.

However, it may be argued that, after A has created the situation, C has acted freely and deliberately to take advantage of it. In these circumstances, is there still a causal connection sufficient to make A to be liable to B for the harm? Think about this and then consider the next statement.
