'Agreements' and 'contracts'

The distinction between the words 'agreements' and 'contracts' is based on the fact that not every agreement is legally enforceable.

Only those agreements that become legally enforceable are properly referred to as contracts.

Agreements that are not legally enforceable are properly referred to simply as 'agreements'.
