(b) This conclusion, while reasonable, does not really follow from a proper application of the 'noscitur' rule. Two of the three words used are clearly connected with injuries inflicted with an instrument (such as a knife) and the third word in the provision should be interpreted in a way that brings it into the same class or concept.

To classify the three words in the most general way possible, that is, as indicative of any injuries however caused, is not a proper application of the 'noscitur' principle.
