The Crown is the head of the executive organ of government.  At federal level, the Crown is represented by Governor-General.  At state level the Crown is represented by the state Governors.

The functions of the Governor-General and Governors in the executive are largely formal.  This means that they exercise their executive powers according to the advice of government ministers, rather than according to their own discretion.
