(b) That's not right. The law made by judges in the course of deciding a case is known as the 'common law', to distinguish it from law made by a legislature (legislation). The law made by judges is also sometimes referred to as 'case law'.

Common law is found in the written reports of the cases that are published each year in 'law reports'. You will learn more about this in the module 'Case law'.
