The Australian Consumer Law is the legislation that, since 1 January 2011, applies uniformly throughout Australia for the purpose of protecting consumers in their dealings with suppliers, manufacturers and importers of goods and services.
This legislation replaces the older consumer protection legislation of the Commonwealth, states and territories, most notably the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth).
