(b) That's right. Because partners are recognised as agents of their firm, it follows that they are each liable for any loss or harm that they cause, while acting in the ordinary course of the firm's business.

For example, if Edward, when installing plumbing, conducts himself in a way that constitutes nuisance, or trespass, or Negligence, he and any other partner will be liable to the persons harmed by those acts. The same applies to any penalties for criminal wrongs.

The liability for tortious and criminal conduct is described as being 'joint and several'. This means that the liability can be enforced either against the partners together or individually. Where one partner is made to discharge the whole liability on their own, they may recover a proportional amount from the others.
