The power of representation

The purple line indicates the agent's power to represent the principal in the conduct of the principal's legal affairs. This power is the essential concept of agency. Without it, there cannot be any agency relationship.

For this reason, agency is sometimes described as the law of representation.

The power that an agent has to represent their principal is created in different ways, and in different situations. You will learn more about this in later sections of this module.
